Did you ever watch The Good Life? You know, with Tom and Barbara trying to live off the land and be self-sufficient? Well, I wouldn’t go that far, but with the space we now have where we live, we have a reasonable vegetable garden planned for this year.
With hopefully the last frosts behind us, we got out last weekend and planted (or is it sowed…I have no idea) our potatoes! Fingers crossed for a great crop in a few months. Henry has loved digging potatoes up out of the ground with my parents and my sister in previous years, and there is nothing better than the taste of potatoes dug from your own garden.
I look forward to more planting, and hopefully harvesting throughout the year! It’s a fun thing for us all to do as a family, a great way to teach Henry about where his food comes from, and something we have wanted to do for years. Look out for broccoli, carrots, strawberries, pumpkins and peas!
