Colour my world – Deventer in The Netherlands

Colour is everywhere! Can you imagine not seeing it, how much less interesting life would be! I battle all the time with my husband’s grasp of colour as he is red green colour blind….I have no idea what he would have been seeing today!

Deventer is a beautiful old city in the Netherlands, but when I googled “Deventer interesting architecture” I came up with the most amazing building that I just knew I had to photograph. And despite the city being recognised for its beautiful old architecture, the building making me go “wow” was not very old at all, and is the L’Arc en Ciel building.

I absolutely loved the colours on this building, but shortly before finding it I took a walk into the town centre, and as I turned a corner in the tiny streets, I was met by these!!!!!!

What a beautiful display, I couldn’t take enough photos of these, but i’ll share just a few. ‘Umbrella Street’ a 5 week display for the summer created by the city. 14 of the umbrellas are designed by artists and will be auctioned off for charity at the end of the summer.
